About The Position

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the Evening Barbering Program at our Clarksville Campus. This is a grant-funded position. The Evening Barbering Associate Instructor is responsible for providing individualized theory and hands-on instruction to prepare students for employment as Barbers. The Barbering Associate Instructor will develop, plan, and prepare a complete and progressive course of study including lesson plans, assignments, and instructional aides; monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; enter and maintain student records on a regular basis in the college’s student records management system; assist with recruitment, placement, and follow-up of students; and other duties as assigned. This position must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies. This is not a remote position; all instruction is delivered in-person. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Class schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. This is a grant-funded position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Tennessee Barbering Instructor license OR active Tennessee Cosmetology Instructor license and willingness/ability to successfully complete a 300-hour Barber training program and obtain Barbering Instructor license.
• Minimum of three years of full-time Barbering experience with Barbering Instructor license OR three years of full-time Cosmetologist experience with active Cosmetology Instructor license OR three years of full-time Master Barber experience and willingness/ability to successfully complete a 300-hour Barber Instructor training program and obtain Barbering Instructor license.
• Must possess a high degree of knowledge in all areas of the instructional field.
• Must commit to remain licensed and maintain program accreditation(s).
• Must possess the organization and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with all students.
• Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
• Must be willing to remain current in the Barbering profession.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
• Computer skills required.
• Identification and eligibility verification prior to employment.
• Only U.S. citizens and aliens authorized to work in the United States may be employed.
• A criminal/financial background check will be required for applicant selected.

Nice To Haves

• Technical diploma from accredited Barbering program preferred.
• Teaching, training or management experience preferred.
