About The Position

The DBA will be part of the Infra Platform team and will be able to provide guidance and support to stream aligned teams with regards to best practices in deploying and maintaining ING US cloud server estate with regards to underlying databases. The DBA will be able to understand application databases, troubleshooting, fixing issues and work as part of any team that is addressing an ongoing incident. The DBA will be familiar with applicable controls and will be able to demonstrate compliance with them. The DBA will also be able to advise, deploy and verify deployment of security patches and will be able to participate in fixing and verification of code red remediation efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor and/or Master diploma in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years as a Database Administrator in a Financial Services, Banking, or Investment Banking environment.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle databases in a multi-tenant environment
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL Always-On
  • Strong enhancement of controllers and security
  • Microsoft Azure CI/CD pipeline, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Ability to navigate an environment with virtual teams and interface with international stakeholders

  • Experience in SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for architecting and implementing database solutions that provide availability, scalability, performance, recoverability, and security.
  • Ensure proper allocation of hardware resources to databases, maintaining high resilience and optimizing performance tuning.
  • Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
  • Responsible for providing metrics, trend analysis, and recommendations to the management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and problem-solving SQL development issues.
  • Responsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timelines and costs.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and following standard operational procedures to provide standardization and stability to the environment and processes.
  • Assist developers with Stored Procedures troubleshooting and performance improvement.
  • Participate in resolution and Root Cause Analysis of any outages or other SLA impacting issues.
  • Routine operational maintenance including installations, upgrades, patching, monitoring, auditing, and issue resolution.
  • Responsible for operating a 24x7 production environment. Some on-call / off-hours support will be required.
  • Participates in DR exercises.
  • Participates in incidents to make sure issues are resolved.
