About The Position

This role is for a talented individual to join the Technical Underwriting team at Victor, based in Canada. It is a hybrid role requiring at least three days a week in the office. The Associate II will support the Senior VP and the broader Technical Underwriting function by leading the monthly renewal production process and helping drive analysis, reporting, and process improvements. The individual will partner closely with Sales, IT, and insurer partners to deliver timely, accurate renewals and insights that support profitability and growth. Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of Group Insurance experience with strong knowledge of Group Insurance principles, concepts, and practices
  • Very strong analytical skills with a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet rigid deadlines and manage a high volume of work
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in generating detailed business performance reports and forecasts used by senior leadership
  • Strong ability to communicate complex data clearly to internal and external stakeholders, including insurer partners.

  • Diploma in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent
  • Experience driving automation and process improvements in renewal/pricing workflows
  • Experience collaborating with insurer partners to maintain transparency and strategic alignment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the monthly renewal processing, including semi-automated Excel-based production, quality control, and continuous process improvement/automation
  • Provide and review complex financial analyses, cost projections, and reporting on sales/profitability trends to support budgeting and forecasting
  • Review and approve annual proposed renewal actions with insurance partners, validating premium, claims, and census data by benefit line within tight deadlines
  • Calculate and post monthly renewal positions, coordinating closely with IT and managing exceptions requiring manual intervention
  • Partner with Sales to analyze and negotiate renewal positions, balancing service delivery standards with overall pricing objectives
  • Mentor and support Technical Underwriters, reviewing analyses for actuarial soundness and assisting with development of junior team members
