About The Position

Prepares sections of tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. Performs histological procedures to embed, stain, and mount samples using routine and special techniques to create tissue slides for diagnosis. Examines specimen slides, enters and tracks result information, and generates result reports. Maintains and repairs laboratory instruments, sterilizes the work area, and stocks supplies. Ensures laboratory safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met. Works with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice, and performs routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory. May interact with clients of all ages. Recognizes the responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interacts respectfully with them in support of their roles and patient care. Keeps abreast of new departmental procedures and changes in general hospital policy and procedures.

Requirements

Associate degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences.
