About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This role prepares sections of tissue specimens for routine and special examinations. The Associate Histology Technician performs histological procedures to embed, stain, and mount samples using routine and special techniques to make tissue slides used for diagnosis. They will examine specimen slides, enter and track result information, and generate result reports. Responsibilities also include maintaining and repairing lab instruments, sterilizing the work area, and stocking supplies. The technician must ensure all lab safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met, working with self-discipline and good judgment while following established standards of practice. This role is responsible for performing routine duties in all areas of the Histology Laboratory and may be required to interact with all ages of the client population. The technician should recognize the responsibilities of other laboratory and health care personnel and interact with respect for their jobs and patient care, while also keeping abreast of new procedures in the department and changes in general hospital policy and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Laboratory or Biological Sciences required.
