About The Position

This is a promotional opportunity for current UML Employees within the same Bargaining Unit. The Associate Head Coach - Men's Basketball assists in all phases of coaching the Division I men’s basketball program. This includes student-athlete recruitment, game preparation, player evaluation, academic coordination, and practice and game coaching. The role also involves providing administrative support as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5-6 years successful experience coaching basketball at the NCAA Division I level and/or previous Head Coaching experience at the collegiate level.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Commitment to high ethical standards and academic success.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with college students.
• Knowledge of, and an appreciation for conference and NCAA rules.
• Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the organization and implementation of the recruitment process.
• Oversee the instructing and supervising of daily drills and workout sessions.
• Scout opponents and oversee every game scout report.
• Serve as Defensive Coordinator.
• Organize and lead preseason and off-season conditioning.
• Create a positive and productive environment for student-athletes.
• Manage purchasing and equipment for the men's basketball program.
• Organize staff recruiting during NCAA live recruiting periods.
• Assist the head coach in coordinating camps, clinics, and fund-raising activities.
• Provide leadership and direction to the program’s community service activities.
• Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies to enhance the image and visibility of the men’s basketball program.
• Build effective partnerships with co-workers by sharing information and providing assistance.
• Ensure optimum service to all internal and external partners.
• Maintain a welcoming environment for persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles.
