About The Position
The Packaging and Labeling function supports the development, maintenance, and implementation of packaging artwork and product labeling for medical devices throughout the product lifecycle. The team partners closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, regulatory, and marketing teams to ensure packaging and labeling components meet business requirements, regulatory expectations, and production needs. Responsibilities include artwork development, packaging labeling support, document maintenance, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and compliant product labeling. This position is based in North Haven, Connecticut. The role follows a hybrid work arrangement with an on-site presence expected four days per week and one remote workday per week. No travel is required. The Associate Graphic Designer supports the creation, revision, and maintenance of packaging and product labeling artwork for medical device products. This role partners with cross-functional teams to develop artwork components, support labeling projects, coordinate artwork updates, and help ensure packaging and labeling materials meet manufacturing, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and experience supporting graphic design, artwork production, packaging graphics, labeling, visual communications, or related creative work through professional experience, internships, freelance projects, academic coursework, or portfolio-based work.
- Experience creating, editing, or maintaining artwork, graphics, labeling, packaging materials, or related visual content through academic, internship, or professional experience.
- Experience using graphic design software, including Adobe Creative Suite applications such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Acrobat.
- Experience managing multiple assignments, maintaining documentation accuracy, and working with attention to detail.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting artwork production, packaging graphics, or labeling projects in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting medical device labeling, packaging, or regulatory documentation processes.
- Knowledge of medical device labeling requirements, including European Union Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR) labeling considerations.
- Experience working with both Mac and Windows operating systems and collaborating across cross-functional teams.
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
Responsibilities
- Create and revise packaging and product labeling artwork, including labels, lidstock, display boxes, and related packaging components.
- Support artwork development activities and formal artwork approval processes in accordance with established procedures and design standards.
- Review vendor proofs, identify discrepancies, and coordinate required corrections to ensure printed materials match approved artwork files.
- Maintain packaging and labeling documentation, specifications, and development procedures.
- Manage multiple artwork projects and prioritize assignments to support production schedules and project timelines.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, regulatory, and marketing partners to resolve artwork-related questions and issues.
- Ensure packaging and labeling artwork incorporates customer requirements and aligns with company standards.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to artwork accuracy, process efficiency, and document control.
