About The Position

Center for Community Solutions (CCS) is seeking an exceptional writer to join their team. This role is crucial for securing funding, building partnerships, and advancing meaningful change through compelling grant proposals. The ideal candidate will enjoy researching opportunities, connecting community needs with funder priorities, and translating complex programs into clear, persuasive narratives. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. Collaboration with leadership and program staff is essential to gather information and strengthen proposals. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in grants writing, research, reports, and project management.
  • Two (2) years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, including direct experience preparing grant proposals and grant reports.
  • Demonstrated strong persuasive writing and excellent editing skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information from various sources to create a unified tone in a variety of writing assignments.
  • Familiarity with research platforms and databases
  • Superior written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills that build trust, accountability, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Organized and detail oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Solutions oriented and sound judgment.
  • Strong commitment to helping survivors and preventing assault as well as an understanding of, and sensitivity to, serving diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must maintain personal cellphone for work-related purposes.
  • Incumbent must reside in California and within a 75-mile radius of the City of San Diego.
  • Ability to work in Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and stalking fields.
  • Must have consistent and reliable transportation available for work-related purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Support grant prospecting, proposal development, submission, and post-award reporting throughout the grant lifecycle.
  • Lead writing, editing, and submission of proposals assigned by the CPO.
  • Update grant proposal and report templates, and develop data visualizations, including charts and graphs, to strengthen grant narratives.
  • Prepare funder correspondence, including acknowledgment letters, progress updates, and other communications, using approved templates.
  • Identify and research grant opportunities that support the CCS mission and funding needs and prepare profiles and briefings for the Grants Team monthly.
  • Track grant deadlines for annual reapplications and new opportunities approved for application.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Assistant on logistics for grant site visits as needed.
  • Support Philanthropy Department fundraising events and support communications efforts, with a focus on written content, such as data for appeals, client vignettes, etc.
