Associate GNC Engineer – Seeker Missile Systems

Mavensoft Technologies.•Chandler, AZ
•Onsite

About The Position

The Associate GNC Engineer will help develop and evaluate guidance, navigation, and control systems for advanced aerospace applications, focusing on seeker-based missile engagements and precision intercept performance. The role applies mathematical models, control theory, and state-estimation techniques to design and analyze algorithms that process seeker measurements and drive guidance and control laws. Work includes building and maintaining six-degree-of-freedom (6-DoF) simulations, integrating hardware and software components, and assessing performance to support system reliability and mission success. The engineer will work with experienced engineers to develop expertise in seeker modeling, tracking algorithms, and advanced GNC techniques. This is a 12-month contract position based onsite in Chandler, Arizona. The position is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required program access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and hold an existing, current U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline, plus 2 years of professional experience; or a Master’s degree in one of these fields with 0 years of professional experience.
  • Must have an existing U.S. Government security clearance at the Secret level.
  • Experience with GNC concepts, algorithms, or analysis.
  • Experience with one or more of MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or similar technical software tools, including development in a Linux environment.
  • Experience supporting development, modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or analysis of aerospace, missile, spacecraft, or autonomous systems.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain required program access.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong foundation in control systems theory and guidance law development.
  • Experience with state estimation and nonlinear filtering, such as Kalman Filter, Extended Kalman Filter, or Unscented Kalman Filter.
  • Domain knowledge in target tracking and infrared and/or radio-frequency seeker systems.
  • Experience developing and validating target dynamics and measurement models.
  • Experience with seeker measurements, including angle-only measurements, line-of-sight rate estimation, pixel/centroid-based infrared seeker measurements, and/or RF seeker range, range-rate (Doppler), azimuth/elevation, and angle-only tracking.
  • Familiarity with data association, track initiation and maintenance logic, and multi-target tracking amid false alarms and clutter.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python and experience with software development tools such as Jira in a Linux environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, verify, and test high-quality flight and simulation software.
  • Develop and maintain 6-DoF simulations to design, analyze, and test flight algorithms and code.
  • Optimize flight and simulation software for performance, robustness, and maintainability.
  • Use trajectory optimization and analysis tools to evaluate mission performance and GNC designs.
  • Integrate hardware and software components and perform detailed performance assessments.
