About The Position

This position involves interacting professionally and effectively with various contacts, prioritizing tasks, and traveling to work with vendors and attend trade shows. The role requires analyzing data to make informed decisions and participating in the development and management of the global sourcing strategy for assigned categories. The Associate Global Sourcing Manager will act as a project manager for new product development, identify and assess new suppliers, analyze bids, and conduct negotiations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to optimize sourcing effectiveness. Responsibilities include researching and analyzing manufacturers' cost, capacity, and delivery history to ensure product specifications and quality meet brand standards. The role also focuses on identifying cost optimization opportunities, managing vendor performance, and monitoring cost and availability trends of key cost factors.

Requirements

Normally requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent
minimum of 2-3 years experience in global sourcing
experience in manufacturing processes
experience in quality control
experience with national chain or specialty chain retailers
working knowledge of import/export marketing
working knowledge of manufacturing relationships
working knowledge of quality control/testing processes and programs
working knowledge of logistics
Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Responsibilities

Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts, with emphasis on company interests
Prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Travel to work with vendors, manufacturers, and to attend appropriate industry trade shows.
Effectively analyze data to determine the appropriate course of action.
Participate in the development/refinement, implementation and management of the Petco global sourcing strategy for assigned categories.
Assume the role of project manager for new product development within assigned categories.
Continually identify, assess, and recommend new suppliers.
Analyze bids and other data, and propose actionable recommendations.
Conduct or participate in the negotiation with suppliers.
Collaborate with Private Brand cross-functional team to optimize sourcing effectiveness.
Research and analyze the cost, capacity, and delivery history of manufacturers; ensure manufacturers can deliver product that meets the specifications and quality of the brand image.
Continually search for and identify opportunities for cost optimization and margin enhancement throughout the supply chain.
Identify and communicate issues to appropriate parties and bring them to resolution.
Manage the ongoing vendors' performance, including Service, Quality & Cost
Monitor the cost & availability trends of key cost factors and recommend course of action (raw & packaging materials, labor, crude oil, etc.)
Perform other related tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned, and directed.
