About The Position

This examination is being given to fill one vacancy in the Office of the Agricultural Commissioner and to establish an eligible list to fill future vacancies. Responsibilities

  • Provides professional support in programming, testing, implementing and maintaining geographic information systems and applications across multiple platforms.
  • Creates various maps, reports, charts and other materials from multiple layers of data; imports, updates and creates datasets; performs geospatial analysis; ensures the integrity of geographic information systems data; reviews data input for accuracy and compliance with system standards; provides cartographic products.
  • Learns to maintain and support geographic information systems, networks and applications; responds to routine client calls and requests for minor system, network or application programming modifications.
  • Learns to administer geographic information systems in order to develop and enhance system servers, printers, workstations and related hardware/software functionality.
  • Learns to serve as database administrator and to plan, design and implement relational databases through utilization of appropriate design tools.
  • Creates technical documentation and instructional materials to assist clients in the use of system applications.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of geographic information systems technology.
