About The Position

Act as Head of Legal Commercial for DHL Supply Chain (DSC) in the US and Canada, providing strategic legal leadership and business partnering to DSC regional and global senior management. Develop and implement legal strategies, processes, and procedures to identify and mitigate legal and compliance risks, protect DHL Group’s legal and business interests, and support business objectives in line with Group frameworks, policies, applicable laws, and regulations. Oversee legal support for compliance matters affecting the DSC businesses in the US and Canada. The role leads commercial legal support for DSC across the US and Canada, advises senior management on business and commercial strategy, and oversees complex transactions, disputes, compliance matters, and corporate governance support. It leads the commercial legal team, allocates legal resources, and develops legal professionals. The position works with colleagues and business partners across DHL and represents the legal function in leadership forums and with external stakeholders. DHL Legal Services provides solution-oriented legal advice worldwide, including comprehensive support in contracts, negotiations, customer and supplier processes, general litigation, and commercial law matters. Requirements

Law degree and professional qualification as a lawyer.
Senior Head-level legal experience, including substantial post-qualification and in-house experience; experience level to be confirmed by DHL GBS HR.

Responsibilities

Lead commercial legal support for DHL Supply Chain in the US and Canada.
Define and implement divisional legal strategies, policies, processes, and standards aligned with business objectives, DHL Group policies and procedures, contract approval processes, the Code of Conduct, and the Supplier Code of Conduct.
Partner with senior management on business and commercial strategies, ensuring operations remain within DHL Group risk parameters and comply with applicable laws across multiple jurisdictions.
Draft, negotiate, and oversee complex, significant, and cross-jurisdictional transactions from opportunity through go-live, including customer, supplier, CSI, and M&A agreements.
Support integration of newly acquired entities, including corporate governance matters.
Manage disputes to eliminate or reduce reputational and financial harm, engaging business teams, insurers, risk management functions, and external counsel as appropriate.
Support DSC compliance reporting and investigations, and provide effective legal support to Compliance Officers, including on ESG and competition-related matters.
Communicate, train, and upskill business colleagues on legal and compliance principles, risk identification, management, and mitigation; create and disseminate legal knowledge and practical guidance.
Collaborate with global legal colleagues, including the DSC Legal Practice Group, to maintain consistency, share expertise, and manage matters spanning jurisdictions.
Implement effective legal processes and procedures and use DHL Legal Services digitization tools, including legal intake, to provide effective service and tailored business guidance.
Maintain strong knowledge of local laws and applicable industry standards.
Present key management messages to the wider business and represent the legal function through leadership forums, site visits, and business communications.
Partner with country, regional, and global DSC senior management to shape strategies, advise on significant legal and compliance issues, and support informed decisions.
Build trusted relationships across DHL businesses and with Global Business Services, Compliance, IRM, Finance, HR, Security, IT, Strategy, and Data Protection to coordinate integrated solutions.
Collaborate with Express and DGF Legal Practice Groups and other global legal colleagues to align approaches, share knowledge, and support cross-border transactions and disputes.
Represent DHL and communicate with regulators, government officials, customs-related stakeholders, customers, suppliers, external counsel, and trade associations.
Lead the Commercial legal team supporting DSC in the US and Canada; allocate legal support across the portfolio and provide direction, coaching, and development to legal professionals.
Attract, develop, motivate, and drive high performance while promoting consistent standards, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across the team.
