About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join their Legal Services team in the role of Associate General Counsel. This position is for a seasoned, collaborative, and practical employment law attorney who will serve as a trusted advisor to Human Resources and business partners across the organization. The role is primarily focused on advisory work rather than litigation, providing day-to-day legal guidance on various employment law matters including employee relations, ADA accommodations, disability and fitness-for-duty issues, absence management, wage and hour law, ERISA and benefits, immigration-related employment questions, and select HR-related contracting needs. The legal team fosters a close-knit, collaborative culture built on knowledge-sharing and mutual trust. A successful candidate will integrate quickly, build strong relationships with HR Business Partners, and become a reliable, independent source of employment law counsel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree required from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Requires law license in good standing in Indiana.
  • Requires 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Requires broad general background in business and civil law.

  • Practical Problem Solver: You balance legal risk with operational reality and provide counsel that is both sound and usable.
  • Relationship Builder: Your ability to build trust with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Benefits, and leadership teams is what makes this role successful.
  • Mission Connected: IU Health exists to serve patients and communities across Indiana. You understand that the legal counsel you provide helps protect that mission and the people who carry it out every day.
