The Associate General Counsel - Litigation is primarily responsible for managing a large litigation caseload, working closely with outside litigation counsel and internal business staff and leaders. In addition, this role is responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations for initiatives and projects developed in response to clients’ overall objectives and needs and working as a strategic partner and decision maker with more senior leaders. This role applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the legal matter at hand. It determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate legal projects. The role contributes to the overall results of an SBU or CEE unit and/or department, using professional legal concepts and principles to contribute to the development of company’s concepts and principles. It may possess deep technical knowledge or a broader scope of knowledge, provides instructions to junior members of the department and concise, timely briefings to senior level business and legal management. The role routinely works on complex problems in which analysis of situations and/or facts require an in-depth evaluation of various factors. It serves as a resource for other attorneys and paralegals as well as business clients instructing and advising on technical and tactical issues, assesses and mitigates risk, and reports to management any identified business exposure and associated risks as well as mitigation techniques being utilized. The role is responsible for managing litigation case load.
