About The Position

Sila is a next-generation battery materials company working to power the world’s transition to clean energy. By engineering advanced materials that significantly increase the energy density of lithium-ion batteries, Sila is enabling smaller, lighter, and more powerful batteries that support innovation in consumer devices and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. Sila is seeking an Associate General Counsel, IP Strategy & Litigation to lead the company’s intellectual property enforcement and monetization strategy. This role will guide global patent litigation efforts while shaping the commercial value of Sila’s growing patent portfolio through licensing, partnerships, and strategic transactions. The position plays a central role in protecting the company’s core innovations and translating its intellectual property assets into long-term business value. The role will oversee patent litigation strategy, manage outside counsel, and advise leadership on how IP can support competitive positioning, commercial partnerships, and broader business objectives. Working closely with engineering, corporate development, and legal teams, the attorney will also support patent portfolio strategy, licensing negotiations, technology transactions, and IP diligence related to strategic partnerships and investments. The role contributes directly to ensuring that the company’s scientific breakthroughs remain protected while enabling the company to expand and commercialize its technology globally.

Requirements

• Deep experience in patent litigation and intellectual property strategy within high-technology environments.
• Strong technical understanding.
• Commercial judgment.
• Comfort advising senior leadership on how intellectual property can function as both a protective asset and a driver of long-term enterprise value.
