Associate General Counsel III, Provider Contracting

Medica is looking to hire an Associate General Counsel III for our Legal Department to support the Provider Network contracting team. The General Counsel provides legal advice and services related to the organization's rights, obligations, and privileges. This role will safeguard the organization's interests in contract negotiations, settlements, and dispute resolution. It involves providing comprehensive legal advice and services, potentially specializing in areas such as insurance, health, government programs, commercial law, contracts, benefits, anti-trust investigations, tax law, and regulatory compliance. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Current license to practice law in at least one United States jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of work experience beyond degree.
- Contract experience and negotiation experience.
Nice To Haves
- Experience within the healthcare, health insurance, or insurance industry.
- Experience from heavily regulated industries such as banking or financial services.
- Knowledge of ERISA and HIPAA.
Responsibilities
- Draft provider contract templates and amendments, including value-based payment provisions.
- Serve as the primary contact for Network contract managers regarding provider contract templates and requests for assistance with counterproposal language.
- Negotiate directly with provider legal counsel.
- Provide legal support for provider quality of care and FWA investigations and regulatory complaint responses involving providers.
- Advise on and engage in dispute resolution concerning claims payment issues with providers.
- Research State/Federal laws, regulations, and sub-regulatory guidance.
