About The Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, you will help oversee the isolved Legal department by assisting in all manner of legal matters regarding regulatory and industry compliance requirements; data privacy and governance, management of litigation and claims; labor and employment matters; corporate governance; and other related issues. This role is responsible for the Company's compliance requirements as a Human Capital Management technology provider and payroll processor, including but not limited to obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses. It is also responsible for the Company's compliance with its data privacy obligations, including requests for personal data, DSARs, privacy policies, privacy assessments and data processing agreements. The position requires working closely with various departments in the Company to provide recommendations and comprehensive legal and compliance support, including state and federal level laws and regulations. The role involves monitoring changes in laws and regulations affecting the Company's operations and ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements, as well as developing and implementing compliance policies and procedures. Additionally, the Associate General Counsel will conduct internal investigations and respond to regulatory inquiries, create and deliver privacy training, and be responsible for how personal information is collected, stored, shared, and transmitted, ensuring compliance with domestic and international law and regulations. The role also includes assisting in audits and risk assessments, participating in due diligence and assurance as to privacy matters, developing and implementing privacy policies, procedures, and controls, collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess and mitigate privacy risks, conducting privacy impact assessments and audits, and maintaining a records retention program.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the bar of a US jurisdiction with the ability to lawfully practice in the location where situated and in North Carolina.
  • 7+ years' practice with an established law firm and/or corporate legal department.
  • Proficient legal experience in data privacy and regulatory compliance, including but not limited to U.S. state privacy laws (including but not limited to CPRA) and GDPR.
  • Experience with Money Transmission Modernization Act and NACHA.
  • Prior US employment law experience.

Responsibilities

  • Advise executives and senior management on various matters such as legal compliance rights, and new and existing laws.
  • Participate in the management of the organization's legal matters including design and oversight of the company's policy and position on legal issues.
  • Maintain knowledge of organization's products, operations and legal documents.
  • Preserve corporate records and help maintain the company's document management system and record retention policies and procedures.
  • Manage litigation, claims, outside counsel relationships and related functions.
  • Manage staff performance of statutory filings, such as licensing forms.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings.
  • Protect the company against legal risks and violations.
  • Examine the legal issues related to new products and services.
  • Guide management on regulatory and compliance issues to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals responsible for Company's compliance responsibilities.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to assess and mitigate privacy risks associated with data collection, storage, sharing, and processing.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments and audits to identify and address potential privacy vulnerabilities.
  • Maintain a records retention program to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and business requirements. Establish policies and procedures for the creation, classification, storage, retrieval, and disposal of records in accordance with company requirements.
  • Serve as primary isolved subject matter expert on privacy law and related issues.
