About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. This role is crucial for maintaining safe and excellent operations for Consumers Energy Natural Gas customers. The position requires operational authority to dispatch supply and make necessary decisions to ensure system integrity. The incumbent will develop and execute low-complexity operational plans, analyze basic operational issues, and make timely decisions. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship and has a 36-month retention period from the start date due to extensive training and OQ processes.

Requirements

Highly detail-oriented
Must be able to obtain the Gas Controller qualification within 6–15 months
Oral and written communication skills
Experience monitoring and operating high-pressure fluid systems using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
Ability to work alternating day/evening shifts
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field OR Associate’s degree in a technical field with two (2) or more years of experience in gas field or pipeline operations OR High School Diploma/GED with four (4) or more years of experience in gas field or pipeline operations

Responsibilities

Assist with monitoring, controlling, and operating the gas transmission and distribution system in a manner that meets operational and regulatory needs.
Use computer-assisted application software and equipment to prepare low-complexity business analysis support documents.
Direct operational support personnel in abnormal operating and emergency conditions.
Communicate with Consumers Energy's Gas Operations to formulate and execute basic operational plans and system supply decisions to meet the Consumers Energy GCR plan.
Other duties as assigned or as may be necessary.
