Associate Fleet Mechanic
About The Position
The Associate Fleet Mechanic is responsible for providing a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment. Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, function, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law. The expected base rate for this role is $33.80 per hour, with overtime compensation. A tool allowance is included for this trade.
Requirements
- Must have 1 year of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
- Must furnish own personal hand tools.
- Able to read and write legibly (e.g., to attend trainings, hold conversations, receive safety and job-related coaching, and enter information on reports if needed).
- Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, divide).
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification
- Experience with Maximo fleet maintenance system
- Previous mechanical and PM program experience
- Experience using fleet maintenance software
- Welding ability
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance within DOT standards.
- Complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (i.e., tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
- Take directions from and assist senior technicians with repairs.
- Utilize fleet maintenance system tablet to fully document equipment repair and parts used.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules/regulations and government guidelines.
- Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
