About The Position

This is a DoD SkillBridge Internship opportunity hosted by Elekta, Inc., a company that produces state-of-the-art medical equipment such as Linear Accelerators for cancer treatment and the Gamma Knife for neurological disorders. The Associate Field Service Engineer will be customer-focused and responsible for performing mechanical and electronic repairs in a timely manner while meeting administrative requirements. This role demands professional representation and undivided support of company projects, programs, and policies. The technologies involved encompass various engineering disciplines including high-power RF systems, electronics, mechanical systems, vacuum systems, control systems, software, and networking environments. Many of these skill sets are common in the military, and a significant portion of Elekta's service engineers are former service members.

Requirements

Applicants must be active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the DoD SkillBridge Program.
Employees must be able to read, speak, write, and comprehend the English language.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience preferably in Electronics, Physics, or an associated discipline is required.
Possess good electro-mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
Must be computer literate.
Proficiency in the use of test equipment and hand tools including oscilloscopes and multi-meters.
Possess a good understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices including ESD (electrostatic discharge) requirements.
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess exceptional customer service skills.
Must be self-motivated an have a “can-do” attitude.
Ability to prioritize workload.
Ability to work independently and in team environments.
Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner.
Flexible and adaptive; Can take direction.
Ability to organize and prepare reports and meet administrative deadlines.
Willing to travel and work unsociable hours.

Responsibilities

Perform low risk troubleshooting and repairs on designated modalities with a success rate of diagnosing the problem commensurate with training level and experience; Follow escalation procedures as needed; Show continual progression of expertise.
Successfully train and perform supervised calibrations and preventative maintenance on assigned modalities.
Work safely in confined areas, including high current / high voltages modulators (20-50 kV, 1500A) and use peripheral vision to gauge distances; The confined areas have potential harm/arm “traps;” Depth perception is critical.
Work safely on Elekta’s full range of products including medical devices producing high-energy ionizing radiation.
Read, analyze, interpret, and follow signal flow on blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Submit timely and accurate service reports, timesheets, expense reports, film badges, and other paperwork as assigned.
Manage parts inventory in accordance with assigned Elekta objectives.
Properly maintain all Company-leased equipment including Company vehicle, parts, and tools.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Incorporate Elekta’s Values into all department functions and responsibilities.
Adhere to all Elekta directives, policies, documentation, and procedures.
