DoD SkillBridge: Service Technician
About The Position
This is a DoD SkillBridge Internship for a Service Technician, also known as an Equipment Mechanic, at REIC Rentals in Odessa, Texas. The program is hosted by REIC and provided by Vets2PM LLC. Applicants must be active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the DoD SkillBridge Program. The role involves performing maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including diesel and gasoline-powered equipment over 10,000 lbs. Responsibilities include inspecting equipment for damage, completing necessary repairs, and performing preventative maintenance. Occasional field service may be required. Training provided includes REIC Rentals Safety, Equipment, and Process training, in addition to on-the-job training.
Requirements
- Active-duty U.S. Military Members who qualify for the DoD SkillBridge Program.
- Experience working on a wide variety of equipment (both diesel and gasoline).
- Experience with mechanic work on all types of equipment from gas to diesel vehicles, to general tool to dirt moving and aerial equipment.
- Experience working outside in all types of weather conditions.
- Technical repair knowledge across a wide range of equipment.
- Ability to work primarily in the shop with occasional field service.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Clean driving record with no violations within the previous three years.
- Personal hand tools appropriate for general equipment repair and maintenance.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more multiple times throughout the day.

Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel and gasoline-powered equipment, primarily in the shop with occasional field service as needed.
- Service and operate a variety of equipment over 10,000 lbs.
- Communicate with customers and provide excellent customer service.
- Accurately identify and order required replacement parts.
- Manage inventory and monitor labor and parts costs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Complete required service documentation and recordkeeping.
- Evaluate repair costs versus equipment value when making repair decisions.
- Adapt to changing priorities throughout the workday.
