About The Position

Associate Faculty provides an invaluable service to the College and our students by providing experience of their profession in our classrooms, laboratories, and studios. Instruction is provided via a variety of media, including face-to-face courses, and blended learning throughout Cochise County and our entire services area. Position is open until filled with applications reviewed upon receipt and may close at any time. Cochise College requires a post offer, pre-employment background screening of all employees.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related discipline from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education
  • Current AWS certifications in SMAW, GMAW and GTAW
  • Three years' related industry experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of curriculum and program development
  • Knowledge of public relations/marketing practices and methods
  • Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications
  • Skill in instructing students from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds
  • Skill in using authentic assessment to evaluate students' needs and progress
  • Skill in integrating technology into curriculum and other educational services
  • Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations
  • Ability to interface with local employers in support of the welding technology program
  • Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner
  • Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
  • Ability to analyze problems, identifies solutions, and takes appropriate action to resolve problems using independent judgment and decision-making processes
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, faculty, students and the public

Responsibilities

  • Teaches assigned courses to enrolled students and manages a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or laboratory environment
  • Develops, prepares and implements lesson plans; conducts pre- and post-assessment of students; evaluates, assesses and plans for students' educational and social needs
  • Collaborates with other faculty and staff in assessment of teaching strategies and the effectiveness of the instructional program to help promote a culture of continuous improvement
  • Maintains student records, statistics, and/or other pertinent information as required by the college and the department
  • Resolves issues relevant to area of responsibility and scope of authority, referring more difficult or complex problems to the Fort Huachuca Center Director or Dean of Business and Technology.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Compensation: $900 per equated credit
