About The Position

This is a posting to gather a pool of qualified applicants for the academic year 2026-2027. The role involves teaching and non-teaching assignments, demonstrating effective performance of duties and responsibilities. Faculty are expected to show currency and depth of knowledge in their discipline, patience, fairness, and promptness in evaluating student work. Sensitivity and responsiveness to the diverse needs of individual students and their learning styles are crucial. Effective written and oral communication, organizational skills, and sound judgment in following college policy are required. For teaching assignments, effective teaching methods and materials appropriate to the subject matter and departmental curriculum are expected, encouraging diverse pedagogical approaches. For non-teaching assignments, effective communication, coordination, quality of work, and potentially program development, budget planning, program leadership, and collegial governance are required. Ensuring curriculum, course outlines, and written materials are current and appropriate, and incorporating communication skills, computational skills, critical thinking, and cultural diversity into these materials is essential. Adherence to state and federal regulations is also required. Additional responsibilities may include participation in peer mentoring and evaluation, meeting contractual obligations such as advising and maintaining office hours, fulfilling division/department obligations, and participating in professional growth activities. Leadership and commitment to the profession through involvement in professional organizations, college committees, campus activities, curriculum development, or classroom research are encouraged. Collaboration with colleagues to provide an educational program and environment that supports student success, and implementation of the college philosophy and mission statement are expected. Participation in program review and accreditation processes is also a responsibility. Professional conduct includes promoting and defending intellectual inquiry, valuing diverse opinions, respecting the college community and profession, promoting a non-discriminatory and non-harassing campus environment, and supporting gender equity and cultural diversity.

Requirements

  • Any Bachelor’s degree and two years of applicable professional experience, or any Associate degree and six years of applicable professional experience.
  • All degrees and units must be from regionally accredited (or equivalent) institutions of higher education.
  • For Classes III and IV, all units beyond a Bachelor’s Degree must be upper division or graduate level semester units (or equivalent) earned subsequent to the granting of the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Non-U.S. citizens who cannot provide evidence of authorization to work in the U.S. are ineligible for this position.
  • Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • All applicants for faculty and academic administrators must meet the minimum qualifications for the discipline as specified in Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges, published by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges.
  • All degrees and credits earned in fulfillment of minimum requirements must be from accredited institutions.
  • For positions requiring a degree, all foreign degree credentials must be evaluated by a third party to determine the equivalent U.S. degree and major, and the Foreign Credential Evaluation must be attached to your application before your application will be considered.
  • Even if you obtained your graduate degree(s) in the U.S., you must attach a Foreign Credential Evaluation for your undergraduate degree if it was obtained outside the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • For Classes III and IV, all units beyond a Bachelor’s Degree must be upper division or graduate level semester units (or equivalent) earned subsequent to the granting of the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Nursing faculty and those faculty whose initial assignment is in disciplines the Minimum qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges identifies as “disciplines in which a master’s degree is not generally expected or available" may be credited in class placement for years of full-time, paid occupational experience.
  • Full-time, paid occupational experience as an apprentice qualifies for credit toward column placement.
  • Experience as a teaching or laboratory assistant does not count towards initial salary placement.
  • Experience years as an intern paid or unpaid do not count as occupation years.
  • Up to two steps may be credited to a faculty member for prior teaching experience.
  • Maximum step placement for teaching experience is step 2.
  • Credit for college teaching experience will be computed as one step for each one year of experience.
  • Credit for high school teaching experience will be computed as follows one step for each two years of experience.
