About The Position
The Daily Beast is seeking a dynamic, dedicated newsroom leader to join its news team as an Associate Executive Editor. The role is a key part of the breaking news operation and supports the Deputy Executive Editor in directing the newsroom. The editor will spot, commission, edit, and publish stories in a fast-paced environment with high editorial standards, across words, pictures, video, and graphics. They will help reporters shape news-breaking enterprise stories, guide those stories to publication, and maximize their impact. The position offers an opportunity for professional growth as The Daily Beast invests in its website, app, YouTube, and Substack presence.
Requirements
- At least five years of experience as a newsroom leader in a breaking news environment.
- Strong ideas, line-editing skills, and headline-writing skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high editorial standards.
- Experience working with stories told in words, pictures, video, and graphics.
- Fluency in the news agenda, especially the political scene and its changing cast of characters.
