POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Vice President, Strategic Partnerships and Civic Engagement, and working in concert with the Operations Team, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for the management, coordination, and general oversight of social responsibility projects in the areas of volunteerism and community strengthening. The role of the Associate Executive Director of Service and Volunteer Engagement is to implement the organization’s civic engagement strategy to deeply engage like-minded organizations and individuals in the mission and work of the Y through a wide array of partnership, volunteer, corporate social responsibility (CSR) investment, and brand development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with a database management system.
  • Ability to manage projects to completion both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to high-quality service. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with all other associates and stakeholders and to assist customers and collaborators cooperatively and courteously.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and apply technical knowledge and experience to complete assignments with minimum instructions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • A minimum of three years of experience in project management and coordination
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively facilitate meetings with a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to demonstrate a true passion for and commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, community engagement and the criticality of social responsibility work
  • All Y associates agree to abide by The Code of Conduct with Youth that sets clear expectations for associates and volunteers to ensure a safe and respectful environment for young people. It emphasizes treating youth with respect and fairness, avoiding inappropriate physical or verbal interactions, and adhering to established standards of affection. The policy strictly prohibits any form of abuse, bullying, or harassment and mandates the reporting of suspected mistreatment. Additionally, associates and volunteers must complete training on child abuse prevention and comply with legal reporting requirements to safeguard youth.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with any/all of the social responsibility disciplines preferred
  • Prior experience in Y operations or an organization with similar scope and scale preferred
  • Proven experience working with a variety of stakeholders inclusive of youth, seniors, internal leaders and community-based organizations

Responsibilities

  • Steward and leverage partnerships with corporations and individuals on the coordination and delivery of volunteer experiences. This includes creating and communicating volunteer experience logistics, informing all stakeholders in a timely fashion, participating in and/or inspecting the volunteer experiences, and following up post the experience.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment strategies
  • Host monthly new associate volunteer orientation.
  • Provide organizational, financial, and programmatic oversight of AARP Experience Corps at the Y program. This includes training and onboarding volunteers.
  • Maintain the VolunteerMatters database inclusive of training, updates, reports, and e-blasts to volunteers. Maintain other online volunteer hub resources and updates.
  • Conduct monthly check-ins for volunteer leads at each center/in each product area and host quarterly volunteer lead huddles.
  • Oversee the implementation of a volunteer recognition forum for regularly highlighting and recognizing our volunteers.
  • Highlight social responsibility initiatives on Y Associate Workplace and other appropriate social media forums.
  • Maintain a log of association in-kind donations and responsibility experiences (i.e., volunteer, D&I, advocacy, and community events) inclusive of pictures, testimonials, and toolkits.
  • Maintain all social responsibility systems such as the dashboard, the communication forum, the resource library, and all community partner agreements.
  • Provide support for association-wide social responsibility initiatives (e.g., Read Week, Veterans’ Drive, Voter Registration, Giving Tree, etc…).
  • Develop and maintain a quarterly dashboard of key volunteer metrics, including volunteer NPS, consistent with the Y's strategic plan and overall volunteerism strategy
  • "Audit" volunteer experiences held throughout the organization, ensuring fidelity and a quality experience
  • Other duties as assigned
