Associate, Envelope Restoration
About The Position
This person will be part of our Building Envelope division and will be involved in a variety of general functions, including but not limited to working with SOCOTEC management departments on integrated internal services (proposing writing, internal tracking of budgetary project requirements), assisting with managing manpower and Division technical needs and initiatives, managing staff or teams and fostering training/mentoring, assisting with the oversight and review of Restoration Division staff’s reports and progress of Projects. The role involves consulting on existing facade design for enhancement or maintenance type projects, including forensic review and analysis, bid document and repair detail preparation, direct bidding phase, and construction administration. The candidate should be well-versed in exterior wall construction and assist with the management and growth of services related to the Façade Inspection and Safety Program (FISP). Effective communication and relationship building with clients and job-related management teams are crucial for providing cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines/project activities are completed. Familiarity with building codes (including Energy Codes) in local markets is required, as is advising architects and clients on building enclosure performance, constructability, and durability. The role also includes documenting and maintaining well-written reports on project-related activity and occasional presentation of white papers/case studies to technical teams. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager will also be performed.
Requirements
- 15+ years working with building envelope\enclosure project experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years at the leadership level in a professional services company.
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
- Register Architect
- Knowledge of Architectural design & construction and local laws\codes
- Must demonstrate an ability to work in a dynamic team environment, proficient in problem solving and multi-tasking.
- Ability to be detail-oriented as well as see the bigger picture
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent PC computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word or suitable document writing programs
