About The Position

This is an entry level Engineering position that provides an overall understanding of a utility system operation and in particular engineering areas. The Engineer uses existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems. Work is under relatively close supervision.

Requirements

Technical Skills/Competencies Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model
Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization, develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders)
Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review and approve engineering work done by others
Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)
Functional Job Specific Competencies Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g. Power Flow, Stability, Short Circuit, etc.)
Software Proficiency - Power System Analytics: (e.g. PSSE, TARA, ASPEN, Enfuzion)
BSEE required
0-2 years of experience (Industry Related)

Responsibilities

Perform routine, basic engineering analyses, designs and calculations using existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems while applying limited judgment and discretion.
Identifies solutions to straightforward requests.
Develop basic engineering knowledge.
Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams).
Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for basic assignments.
Develop competencies with departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, design criteria and guidelines, applicable industry codes, and CNG/SCG policies and processes.
Develops team effectiveness skills within own work team.
Communicates information and responds to standard internal/external customer requests with assistance from others.
Review standard internal/external customer requests.
Prepare drawings, construction and material orders, and cost estimates for incorporation into final plans depending on others for instruction, guidance and direction to meet deadlines.
Works to specify and design systems to address basic situations.
Apply design standards, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines and company polices/procedures to basic assignments.
Works within technical guidelines and direction provided by others to meet deadlines.
Contribute to projects or process teams.
Develops an awareness of costs related to own work and understands the company's business management practices.

Perform basic equipment selection research and recommendations with supportive documentation.
