About The Position

This is an entry level Engineering position that provides an overall understanding of a utility system operation and in particular engineering areas. The Engineer uses existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems. Work is under relatively close supervision.

Requirements

  • Technical Skills/Competencies Theoretical Engineering knowledge: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytics, Modeling & Calculation (e.g. sym. Components, per unit, etc.), Understanding the Business Model
  • Practical Engineering Experience/Application: Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization, develop business case and defend in front of stakeholders)
  • Engineering documentation: Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation, review and approve engineering work done by others
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment: Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and Requirements (NERC, NPCC, ISO, PUC, etc.)
  • Functional Job Specific Competencies Power System Studies - Knowledge & Interpretation of Study Assumptions and Results: (e.g. Power Flow, Stability, Short Circuit, etc.)
  • Software Proficiency - Power System Analytics: (e.g. PSSE, TARA, ASPEN, Enfuzion)
  • BSEE required
  • 0-2 years of experience (Industry Related)

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, basic engineering analyses, designs and calculations using existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems while applying limited judgment and discretion.
  • Identifies solutions to straightforward requests.
  • Develop basic engineering knowledge.
  • Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams).
  • Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for basic assignments.
  • Develop competencies with departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, design criteria and guidelines, applicable industry codes, and CNG/SCG policies and processes.
  • Develops team effectiveness skills within own work team.
  • Communicates information and responds to standard internal/external customer requests with assistance from others.
  • Review standard internal/external customer requests.
  • Prepare drawings, construction and material orders, and cost estimates for incorporation into final plans depending on others for instruction, guidance and direction to meet deadlines.
  • Works to specify and design systems to address basic situations.
  • Apply design standards, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines and company polices/procedures to basic assignments.
  • Works within technical guidelines and direction provided by others to meet deadlines.
  • Contribute to projects or process teams.
  • Develops an awareness of costs related to own work and understands the company's business management practices.
  • May contribute to project or process teams.
  • Perform basic equipment selection research and recommendations with supportive documentation.
  • Individual should have a basic knowledge of engineering theories, practices and procedures.
