About The Position

The SPX Engineering Development Program (EDP) is designed to hire and develop talented individuals, providing them with the resources for continuous learning, challenges, mentorship, and success. This program serves as a primary entry point for recent graduates with a Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering or a Master's Degree in Engineering. Over two years, participants will complete four distinct developmental assignments, engage in advanced professional training, and pursue relevant certifications offered by SPX. The EDP commences each June, with positions available across various SPX locations.

Participants will gain significant exposure to engineering executives and business unit operational leaders. The rotations are tailored to the specific needs of a business unit and the individual engineer's objectives, offering a comprehensive view of the SPX business through hands-on experience designed to enhance engineering skills in multiple technical domains.

Rotations may encompass areas such as Lean Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality Engineering, Line/Cell Supervision, Process Engineering, Production and Inventory, Project Management/Engineering, Product Development, Product Design, Applications Engineering, and Product Management/Marketing.

The objectives of the EDP rotations and developmental assignments are to ensure each engineer is given significant and progressively challenging professional assignments, provided with distinct work with measurable goals, professionally prepared to add value, able to embrace the organization's culture and embody SPX's Mission, Vision, and Values. Each engineer will be assigned a mentor and receive regular formal and informal feedback to support their growth. Key competencies developed include Leadership/Influencing, Self-motivation, Teamwork/Business Partnering, Judgment/Problem-solving, Innovation/Business Maturity, Communication, and Cross-functional Learning.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Relevant internship / co-op experience (professional experience in manufacturing is desired)
• Adaptable, flexible and able to work in changing work environments
• Willingness to travel to or potentially reside in different geographic locations during the program
• Strong analytical and communication skills, technical knowledge, mathematical skills, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and challenging
• Self-directed, excellent initiative, strong organizational and communication skills
• Exhibit strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, and willingness to learn
