About The Position

DRS RADA Technologies, a subsidiary of Leonardo DRS, is focused on proprietary radar solutions and legacy avionics systems supporting the defense industry globally. The company is a global pioneer of AESA tactical radars for active military protection, counter-drone applications, critical infrastructure protection, and border surveillance. DRS RADA is seeking an Engineer Technician to join our growing UAV production team. This role will be to set up manufacturing for UAVs, including making work instructions, setting up production lines, and creating test procedures. Additional responsibility will be to provide support for the development and maintenance of the current UAV fleet used for testing. Involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronics systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • General hand tool knowledge
  • Familiarity with 3D printing, electronics assembly, and general manufacturing processes
  • Experience with aerospace, defense, or UAV manufacturing
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to communicate and work with cross disciplinary teams
  • Strong problem solving and analytical thinking
  • Willingness to take initiative in finding and resolving issues and improving processes
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, iterative environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ITAR controlled products or defense manufacturing
  • Experience with design, build, and fly of small UAVs
  • Certifications related to soldering or cable harness fabrication. (MIL, IPC)
  • Familiarity with setting up and tuning flight controller parameters (ArduPilot, PX4, Betaflight)
  • FAA Part 107 certified
  • Active U.S. security clearance (Secret or higher); candidates without a clearance will be considered
  • Ability to obtain a DOD security clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment

Responsibilities

  • Design processes for the manufacturing of UAV components and assemblies
  • Develop and maintain production workflows, bills of materials, and work instructions
  • Assembly, integration, and testing of UAV systems
  • Ensure compliance with FAA, DoD, or commercial regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with R&D to transition prototypes to production
  • Provide support for the development and maintenance of the current UAV fleet used for testing
