About The Position

This role offers exposure to multi-disciplinary development such as medical device design, manufacturing, quality, and product stability engineering throughout the product development process. The Associate Electrical Engineer in Capital Equipment will be developing our next generation of capital equipment. In collaboration with the team of seasoned engineers and mentors, they will leverage innovative technology to deliver solutions to our customers.

Requirements

  • Must be a new college graduate with a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Prior co-op, internship or work experience and demonstrated leadership, participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is required.
  • Basic electrical design and analysis skills, inclusive of basic analog and digital circuits are required.
  • Experience in schematic capture, associated simulation (SPICE), and PCB simulation are required.
  • Able to assist with engineering investigations, problem solving, root cause, prototype rework, and component modification is required.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and teaming skills with ability to present technical information to engineering team.
  • Approximately 10% domestic/international travel may be required, including overnight stays
  • Organized with creative analytical and problem-solving skills; Able to work independently under general supervision.
  • The ability to set and prioritize goals with general guidance from management
  • Experience working on a project team with demonstration of encouraging and inclusive behaviors.

Nice To Haves

  • Solid understanding of design controls, design plans, and verification/validation, preferably as they apply within a regulated industry is strongly preferred.
  • Systems-based design experience, including integration of cross-disciplinary technologies (e.g., mechanical, electrical, controls, software) is preferred.
  • Experience in the design, development, and commercialization of medical devices with an understanding of their application in surgical procedures is preferred.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following is preferred: embedded systems, motor controls, analog filters, communication protocols, sensors, power supply design, amplifier design, FPGA programming and/or verification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment: multimeter, oscilloscope, function generator, spectrum analyzer, digital logic analyzer is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software programming microcontrollers is preferred.
  • Previous experience with circuit design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium, KiCAD or similar ECAD tool is preferred.
  • Data analysis experience with Python, Matlab, or similar programming languages

Responsibilities

  • Design and iterate product concepts quickly and effectively via prototype builds, laboratory testing, and/or computer simulations
  • Support development of design requirements and their translation into design concepts and solutions, based on user needs and product function
  • Develop test methods, design/build fixtures and systems for testing
  • Generate/process/analyze advanced engineering data to meet design spec’s
  • Commercialize new products via the design control process, applying good documentation practices, spanning from feasibility to V&V through launch
  • Participate in detailed reviews of designs, test methods, requirements, specs, etc. and effectively communicate technical information in written/verbal forms
