About The Position

Leidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer to work in either their Framingham, MA office or the New Hampshire area. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in NESC expertise, structural pole modeling, electrical power calculations, GIS design, and interactions with other disciplines such as Substation, Protection & Controls, and Civil Structural. The position involves developing construction work packages for electric distribution systems (OH, UG, or URD environments) for new business and reliability projects. Work packages are created using software like Bentley Open Utilities Design, CAD, GIS, and WMS. Engineering calculations will include structural analysis of poles, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, transformer sizing, voltage drop and flicker, and coordination of protective devices. Additional tasks may involve preparing forestry trimming requests, facilitating permit and Right-of-Way acquisition, developing a Bill of Materials (BOM), estimating costs, and customer advocacy, including acquiring easements. Field investigations will require travel by motor vehicle to various project locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or related field.
  • Six plus (6+) months of prior relevant experience working directly with an electric utility or with a consulting/contracting company performing design engineering for electric utilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work.

Responsibilities
