As an Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management- Clinical Packaging at Gilead you are responsible for supporting procurement activities, sourcing, contracting, supplier relationship management (SRM), supplier portfolio strategy, and market and risk intelligence. This role manages important business relationships with multiple Clinical Packaging, Labeling and Distribution CMOs as well as clinical depots in support of Global Clinical Supply Chain. We are seeking a high energy, “go- getter” who will use their business savvy and technical experience to help drive high performance from our partners. This individual has strong experience in strategic sourcing and supplier strategies, relationship management, and a strong understanding of end-to-end clinical supply chain. This position will be based at the Gilead Foster City, CA site and is eligible for the Gilead GFlex program allowing remote work up to 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • BA or BS and 10+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech organization or relevant manufacturing environment OR MA or MS and 8+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech organization or relevant manufacturing environment OR 3+ years in Strategic Sourcing (or equivalent) function.
  • This position may require 10-20% domestic and/or international travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in clinical packaging, labeling, distribution and strategic sourcing.
  • Knowledge of GMPs and associated regulations (21CFR parts 11, 210, 211, 820).
  • Ability to effectively lead and influence cross functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Supports procurement activities, strategic sourcing, contracting, supplier portfolio strategy, market and risk intelligence, and ESG for suppliers supporting clinical packaging, labeling and distribution.
  • Lead annual business review meetings (BRMs) with assigned CMO’s as needed.
  • Supports supplier network assessment and mitigation of supplier risks.
  • Participates in CMO site visits as required.
  • Responsible for preparation, reviewing, challenging, and tracking of RFPs/RFQs/RFIs for new business with external suppliers in consultation with functional stakeholders (GCSC, Packaging Engineering, Quality Assurance, Logistics, etc.).
  • Negotiate Confidentiality Agreements, Master Services Agreements and Work Orders.
  • Serve as an escalation point for Global Clinical Supply Chain, Logistics, and Packaging Engineering for recurrent or chronic performance issues with suppliers.
  • Oversee external production for clinical packaging, labeling and distribution activities and other projects/CMOs as assigned.
  • Serves as the primary day to day contact to support the relationship between Gilead and assigned CMOs.
  • Facilitates site selection decisions across multiple pre-pivotal modalities.
  • Assists in transfer of new clinical programs to various contract organizations.
  • Lead and participate in Operational Excellence projects.
  • Develops metric parameters to evaluate and monitor the performance of CMOs.
  • Effectively communicate project, performance, and resource issues or delays to management and within project teams.
