The Associate Director, Philanthropic Strategies & Engagement, Project Management is a project manager and strategic partner supporting principal The Associate Director, Strategic Philanthropy and Engagement is a project manager and strategic partner supporting Strategic Philanthropy & Engagement team operations and the Events teams within the Mass General Brigham Development Office. Working in close collaboration with event planners and frontline colleagues across the office, this role manages special projects and operations needs for the Strategic Philanthropy and Engagement team, and plays a key role in advancing high priority institutional fundraising event needs and initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Associate Director will manage and collaborate on projects across the Strategic Philanthropy and Engagement team, the Events teams, and other business units. The Associate Director will bring strong judgment, fundraising or donor strategy experience, and experience managing complex, multistakeholder projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required and 5-7 years of development, project management, or related, transferable experience.
  • Demonstrated professional maturity, organization, initiative, creativity, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple deadline-driven projects simultaneously, autonomously and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels, both orally and in writing in communications with staff, vendors, and various hospital constituencies.
  • Ability to translate medical and/or scientific information into clear jargon-free language that coveys a compelling case for support while adhering to the office’s style guide.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Project management experience, including working with a project management and reporting software program.
  • Ability to build bridges and create strong collaborative relationships across a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm, curiosity, initiative, and resilience.
  • Ability to research audience needs and lead the development of products and services to support these needs.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort with using data to drive strategy.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the history, purpose, and mission of the hospital.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with Senior Director, project manage Strategic Philanthropy and Engagement team special projects and operations needs.
  • Serve as strategic partner to support project management needs for the Signature Events and Athletic and Community Fundraising Events teams.
  • Serve as primary contact for system-wide events calendar, ensuring alignment on event strategies including leadership and donor participation.
  • Project manage team operations needs including team meetings, budget, and annual planning process.
  • Play a key role in identifying where project support is most needed, and emphasizing consistency in strategy and analytics.
  • Support capital proposal requests and tracking of capital revenue across system-wide capital fundraising efforts.
  • Support additional strategic projects across the team as needed, including donor project management, capital projects, and pre-campaign planning.
  • Develop and refine processes to streamline communications and facilitate smooth workflow across the Development Office, working collaboratively with other fundraising programs.
  • Develop and refine systems that increase efficient collaboration within the MGB Development Office.
  • Understand and advise on institutional priorities and related office processes.
