About The Position

As the Associate Director, Social Services – Community Guardian Program (CGP), you'll provide strategic leadership and oversight for the social service operations of JASA's Community Guardian Program. Reporting as a key member of the CGP Leadership Team, you'll supervise Social Work Supervisors, ensure the delivery of high-quality client services, oversee complex and high-risk cases, and help safeguard the well-being of vulnerable older adults while ensuring compliance with HRA contractual requirements. This leadership role requires sound clinical judgment, strong supervisory skills, and the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The Associate Director, Social Services – Community Guardian Program (CGP) oversees the day-to-day social service operations of the program while ensuring compliance with HRA contractual requirements and established social service standards. This position provides direct supervision to Social Work Supervisors, oversees high-risk client cases, supports program operations, and partners with leadership to ensure timely completion of court reports and other required documentation. This role requires maintaining an in-office presence 3–4 days per week, traveling throughout New York City as needed, and being available outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, to respond to client emergencies and provide leadership support.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW), Public Administration, Counseling, Gerontology, Psychology, or a closely related field

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the Community Guardian Program's social services operations
  • Supervise daily program operations, including social service, legal, financial, and emergency matters
  • Serve as a member of the CGP Leadership Team
  • Identify operational challenges and recommend corrective actions
  • Prepare reports on findings, program performance, and progress
  • Provide direct supervision to Social Work Supervisors
  • Conduct performance evaluations and ongoing coaching
  • Develop professional growth and development plans
  • Supervise social work interns as needed
  • Participate in interviewing and recommending qualified candidates for employment
  • Monitor all elevated-risk client cases
  • Develop and oversee case plans with Social Work Supervisors
  • Facilitate weekly case review meetings
  • Conduct client field visits as needed
  • Support staff in responding to client emergencies
  • Partner with the CGP Leadership Team to ensure timely submission of Annual client reports, Court reports, and HRA-required documentation
  • Monitor compliance with HRA contractual requirements
  • Ensure adherence to established social service standards and best practices
  • Work collaboratively with legal, finance, and program leadership
  • Foster effective communication across multidisciplinary teams
  • Provide guidance and support to staff navigating complex client situations
  • Maintain an office presence three to four days per week
  • Be available outside normal business hours, including weekends, as needed
  • Travel throughout New York City to visit clients and support program operations
