About The Position

The Associate Director, Risk Advisory serves as an outsourced risk management consultant for a diverse portfolio of clients. This role acts as a key liaison between clients, insurance brokers, third-party administrators (TPAs), carriers, and other service providers to support effective risk financing and claims management strategies. The Associate helps clients optimize their Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) through data analysis, claims oversight, program administration, vendor management, and strategic risk management initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong background in commercial insurance claims handling, risk management, or a related field, with experience in workers' compensation, auto liability, general liability, property damage, and other commercial lines of coverage. This individual must be highly analytical, client-focused, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, Occupational Safety, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in claims handling, risk management, insurance brokerage, third-party administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or handling claims in one or more of the following areas: Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, General Liability, Property Damage, Commercial Umbrella/Excess Liability
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance coverage, claims management processes, and loss financing concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a client-service environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional designations such as ARM, CPCU, AIC, SCLA, CRM, or other insurance/risk management certifications.
  • Experience working with insurance brokers, TPAs, captive programs, large deductible programs, or self-insured organizations.
  • Knowledge of actuarial data, loss forecasting, benchmarking, and total cost of risk methodologies.
  • Experience creating executive-level dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Ability to analyze existing client processes and make recommendations for efficiencies and improvements where appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and delivery of exceptional service.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on claims management, insurance program performance, and risk management best practices.
  • Participate in client meetings, stewardship reviews, renewal planning sessions, and strategic risk management discussions.
  • Assist in ensuring client satisfaction and achievement of risk management program objectives.
  • Analyze workers' compensation, auto liability, general liability, property, and other commercial claims programs to identify trends, emerging exposures, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators, insurance carriers, brokers, defense counsel, and medical management vendors to monitor claim outcomes and service performance.
  • Review loss runs, reserve adequacy, claim handling practices, litigation trends, and large-loss exposures.
  • Prepare claims summaries, executive dashboards, benchmarking reports, and recommendations for clients.
  • Assist clients in developing strategies to reduce frequency, severity, and overall claim costs.
  • Work with Artex Team Leader to identify client value added projects and opportunities
  • Support client intake, implementation, and onboarding activities.
  • Coordinate the collection and validation of underwriting, exposure, payroll, vehicle, property, and loss history information.
  • Assist with annual program renewals and ongoing insurance administration activities.
  • Maintain client files, documentation, and risk management records in accordance with company standards.
  • Analyze claims, exposure, financial, and operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas of opportunity.
  • Develop client-facing presentations, reports, scorecards, dashboards, and stewardship materials.
  • Prepare key performance indicator (KPI) reports related to claim performance, loss trends, reserve development, and total cost of risk.
  • Utilize Excel and other business intelligence tools to support client analytics and reporting initiatives.
  • Coordinate activities between clients, brokers, TPAs, carriers, and other service providers.
  • Assist with the reviewal of broker service plans, performance metrics, and service agreements.
  • Support contract review, negotiations, and implementation of third-party administrator, broker, and risk management vendor agreements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and assist in resolving operational issues affecting client programs.
  • Assist in evaluating insurance program structures, coverage options, deductibles, retentions, and risk financing strategies.
  • Lend support, as necessary, for the preparation of insurance submissions and renewal documentation.
  • Help identify coverage gaps, overlapping coverage, and opportunities for program optimization.
  • Assist Artex team as necessary with certificate management, policy reviews, and other insurance administration functions.
  • Participate in risk assessments, due diligence reviews, safety and loss control initiatives, and special client projects.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and integration activities from a risk management perspective.
  • Assist clients with development and implementation of risk management policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives designed to enhance client outcomes and operational efficiency.
