Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Food Science, Biology or Chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum of 12+ years plant/systems experience with demonstrated leadership achievement.
  • Demonstrated experience in Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality Systems and their application within food processing preferred.
  • Experience in Sanitation and GMP Practices, familiarity with Pest Control programs and techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Continuous Improvement tools. (i.e. LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food processing
  • Familiar with industry standard Quality Practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of Quality Standards and Quality Policies, with skills and ability to execute against requirements.
  • Knowledge and general business acumen to support and influence multiple functions including Manufacturing, Product Development and Engineering .
  • Knowledge in Food Safety/Quality audit practices in the food industry, as well as skill in adapting them to achieve business best practices. Must be familiar with SQF standard.
  • Knowledgeable in Statistical Process Control programs and Process Capability studies.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years plant/systems experience with demonstrated leadership achievement.
  • Familiar with formula and information management systems including Optiva, SAP and RMS.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and directs the overall functions of Quality and the laboratories at the Maxton plant.
  • Responsible for directing all programs designated to the quality team including SQF, HACCP, FSMA, Recipe Management, Laboratories, Auditing, Quality Assurance Departmental procedures, product release and withheld programs.
  • Responsible for training, engagement and career development of staff.
  • Provide Quality leadership to the Maxton site, including the development of the Quality plan, alignment/development of resources and execution of priorities.
  • Ensuring the continuous improvement of the site Quality program to meet regulatory and CSC North American Quality requirements (Compliance Quality and all regulatory requirements for USDA and FDA).
  • Drive process / continuous improvement initiatives through staff, work group, Plant group, and R&D (Process/Food Quality).
  • Manage and drive Consumer Complaint reduction programs, initiatives at the plant.
  • Participate and lead as a member of the CNA Quality leadership group responsible for Quality strategy development, policy alignment and network wide implementation.
  • Must respond to new or revised regulations or policies, specifications, procedures, quality, and implications where utilized in a range of finished product.
  • Must troubleshoot Quality issues across the various supply chains for ingredients, packaging, materials, and finished products supplied (examples; mislabeled, allergen risk management, equipment risk management, container non-conformance, etc.).
  • Capable of engaging other business unit's Quality in development and standardization of Quality manuals, policies, procedures, and data templates; audit standards and procedures; and Quality Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ability to drive organizational alignment on Quality objectives with an enterprise-wide mindset, and the adaptation of structure, processes, and systems to achieve objectives.
  • Capable of influencing development steps used in the Innovation and Commercialization process to leverage design in achieving consumer safety and quality objectives (example: HACCP Assessment).
