About The Position

The Associate Director, Project Management (ADPM) at Worldwide Clinical Trials provides support and oversight for large, multi-national projects. This role is responsible for directing national or global projects, programs of projects, and/or complex projects in terms of customer deliverables, while also providing functional leadership to Project Managers (PMs). The ADPM works effectively across multiple divisions to ensure project delivery within cost, time, and quality requirements. This position involves direct supervision, support, training, and mentoring of Project Managers, and may include preparing and conducting performance appraisals and salary reviews. The role also collaborates with leadership in all functional areas for continuous business process improvement to support cross-functional teams and ensure work is managed appropriately. Additionally, the ADPM serves as a liaison with Business Development and Bids/Contracts for client presentations and proposal development, and assists in resource utilization, policy development, and goal implementation.

  • University/college degree (life science preferred) or certification in a related allied health profession from an appropriately accredited institution (e.g., nursing certification, medical technology, or laboratory technology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of clinical pharmaceutical industry experience, including demonstrated skills and competency in clinical project management tasks
  • In lieu of the above requirements, candidates with more than five (5) years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting and six (6) years of clinical research experience in the pharmaceutical industry or Contract Research Organization (CRO) industry will be considered
  • A demonstrated track record of success in clinical development and in leading and developing professional staff in a project-led environment
  • Proven experience developing and managing the budgets and resources of a segment of the business
  • Experience using project management software
  • Experience in conducting global clinical trials
  • Available for domestic and international travel, including overnight stays
  • Valid passport
  • Ability to drive and maintain a valid driver's license
  • Fluent in the local office language and in English, both written and verbal
  • Broad knowledge of the drug development process and client needs

Responsibilities

  • May have direct reports
  • Accountable for multiple projects simultaneously
  • Lead core project team and facilitate their ability to lead the extended and complete project team
  • Lead cross-unit coordination both internally and externally, including subcontractors
  • Define and manage project resource needs and establish contingency plans for key resources
  • Ensure successful design, implementation, tracking, and revision of project plans for assigned projects
  • Promote effective teamwork among project team members
  • Resolve conflicts as needed
  • Ensure appropriate communication on project-related matters with PM Management
  • Meet financial performance targets for the assigned clinical projects
  • Ensure project deliverables are met according to both Worldwide Clinical Trials and client expectations
  • Initiate improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of the work performed on assigned projects
  • May be the key client contact for assigned projects and clients
  • Establish excellent working relationships with client project teams and vendors to ensure client satisfaction and operational excellence
  • Ensure that all staff allocated to assigned projects adhere to professional standards and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) established for clinical research
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
