The Associate Director of Human Resources provides advanced professional level expertise, interpretation, and guidance to administration, managers, supervisors, and all employees on the full range of all HR services including but not limited to recruitment and selection, affirmative action, classification, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee and labor relations, organizational design and workforce planning. The Associate Director partners with supervisors and administrators to ensure organizational effectiveness through proper classifications of positions, alignment of structure, staffing, processes, and culture. This position actively participates in the creation of processes and programs, including change initiatives and continuous improvement measures aligned with college strategies and objectives. Additionally, the Associate Director provides team leadership and training to HR colleagues in the areas of contract interpretation, project management, and transactional processes. This position works extensively with the employees of the college (staff, faculty, supervisors, and administrators) to provide expertise and guidance in the areas of human resources, change management, organizational planning, labor relations, contract compliance, and campus culture. The position works closely with colleagues at the Minnesota State system office and the service center to ensure accurate training, compliance, and transactions. There is a high degree of responsibility in this position, requiring professionalism, diplomacy, integrity, cooperation, and highly effective communication and problem-solving skills. The individual in this position must be adept at interacting with a wide variety of campus constituents often in emotionally charged situations and complicated personnel issues.
