About The Position

The Associate Director coordinates and oversees regional residential operations for VOA Home programs across Kentucky. This role provides leadership to ensure high-quality, trauma-informed services for families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Human Services or related field with 5+ years of residential experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of experience OR 13+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • At least 2 years of experience managing teams and/or projects
  • Strong knowledge of homelessness, including its impact on individuals and families
  • Experience with trauma-informed care and crisis intervention practices
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-site programs
  • Strong skills in budgeting, program development, and team leadership
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with grant writing, fundraising, or community engagement preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support daily operations of residential programs across the region
  • Supervise, train, and support staff in service delivery, compliance, and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with funding, regulatory, and accreditation standards (including COA and PQI)
  • Assist in strategic planning, policy development, and program improvement initiatives
  • Develop and monitor program budgets and financial performance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with funders, partners, and community stakeholders
  • Support development of new programs and services
  • Advocate for families and address systemic barriers impacting service delivery
  • Ensure trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive care practices
  • Conduct case reviews and ensure accurate reporting and documentation
  • Participate in community and state-level committees
  • Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and performance management to staff
