About The Position

The Associate Director of Graduate Enrollment and Recruitment, College of Communication, will lead the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive recruitment and communication plans for Master’s, PhD, and certificate programs. This role involves identifying target markets, refining yield strategies, and optimizing conversion funnels. The position oversees personalized communication flows in Slate across the student journey, partners with the marketing team on integrated initiatives, and serves as a liaison with digital marketing agencies. Analysis of recruitment trends and data-driven strategy adjustments are key. The role also involves strategic leadership for the Slate CRM, ensuring alignment with enrollment objectives and institutional priorities, and managing admission processes within Slate in coordination with central BU Graduate Enrollment standards. Training team members on Slate, staying current with updates, and monitoring data quality are also responsibilities. The position requires tracking, analyzing, and reporting on recruitment initiative effectiveness, translating data insights into actionable strategies, and developing dashboards for leadership. Collaboration with various university teams and participation in professional development are expected. The role includes supervising one direct report.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in recruitment or enrollment management in a higher education setting.
  • Advanced proficiency with Slate CRM preferred, including building communication campaigns, creating and managing reports, configurable joins, audience segmentation, automated workflows, liquid markup, and portal configuration.
  • Ability to develop and execute successful marketing and communication strategies across multiple channels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret enrollment data, generate actionable insights, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail, and able to craft compelling, audience-appropriate messaging and present findings clearly to stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive recruitment and communication plans for Master’s, PhD, and certificate programs.
  • Oversee and direct the development and management of personalized communication flows in Slate across the full student journey, from prospect to enrollment.
  • Partner closely with COM’s marketing team on integrated marketing initiatives.
  • Serve as key liaison with digital marketing agency and collaborate with colleagues managing social media and web content.
  • Ensure brand consistency and messaging alignment across all recruitment-related communications.
  • Analyze recruitment trends and use data to adjust strategies and meet enrollment goals.
  • Provide strategic leadership for COM’s Slate CRM, aligning communication campaigns, audience segmentation, event registration, automation, and analytics with enrollment objectives and institutional priorities.
  • Partner with the Assistant Director of Admission & Financial Aid on admission processes within Slate.
  • Train and support other team members on Slate best practices and functionalities.
  • Stay current with Slate updates and feature releases, participate in BU central Slate working group, and proactively recommend and implement improvements.
  • Monitor data quality and integrity within Slate; conduct regular audits and data cleanup to ensure accuracy and consistency across applicant and enrollment records.
  • Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of recruitment initiatives using Slate analytics and other data sources.
  • Translate data insights from BU’s central Graduate Enrollment team and other sources into actionable, COM-specific strategies and recommendations.
  • Identify trends, measure ROI, and regularly present clear, data-informed recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards or reports tracking key enrollment performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with the central BU grad enrollment team, COM graduate admissions, COM marketing team, academic departments, and other campus partners.
  • Participate in relevant professional development and stay current with trends in higher education enrollment, digital marketing, and Slate capabilities.
  • Assist with recruitment, current student events, and COM commencement.
  • Supervise one direct report responsible for Slate communication execution, analytics, and recruitment support.
