About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Associate Director of Facilities (Associate Director 2) oversees the day-to-day operations of Grounds and Housekeeping, along with facilities services at the Jersey City location. The Associate Director is responsible for the operational execution, staffing coordination and performance management of exterior maintenance, custodial services and snow and ice removal activities, to ensure a safe, clean and well-maintained campus environment in support of academic and student life operations and University standards. Employees are expected to work on site at one of the Kean campus locations. This position is primarily based at the Jersey City location and requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. This position is considered essential and assists the Director and Assistant Vice President with response in crisis, weather and emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, trades supervision, grounds management, or custodial operations
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • Ability to perform essential functions that require physical activity including, but not limited to: driving, walking long and short distances, standing for long durations of time outdoors/indoors, bending and/or stooping, occasionally lifting/carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds and climbing stairs.
  • The work environment will expose the Associate Director to chemicals, heat, noise, odor, and dust.
  • The Associate Director will be expected to wear appropriate personal protective devices including gloves, eye protection/face shield, dust mask, N95 respiratory protection, hearing protection and a lab coat or apron.
