About The Position

Cardinal Creek Residence is a new, 134 private and 90 shared room facility opening in Orléans, Ontario in Summer 2026. It will offer 24-hour nursing care and personalized support. The Associate Director of Care will provide clinical and operational leadership to ensure safe, respectful, and consistent resident care. This role supports the Director of Care in overseeing care delivery, coordinating quality activities, coaching staff, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The position involves supporting inspection readiness and implementing corrective action plans.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario and in good standing with the CNO.
  • Experience in long-term care or seniors care, with strong knowledge of gerontological practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., charge nurse, team lead) with ability to coach and support staff.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical best practices and LTC regulations.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills, with experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records (e.g., PointClickCare).
  • Experience with quality improvement, audits, and compliance processes.
  • Knowledge of workplace health & safety and infection prevention practices.
  • Ability to multitask, lead in a fast-paced environment, and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • GPA/dementia care training.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and act as Charge Nurse/Clinical Lead in the absence of senior leadership.
  • Coordinate day-to-day unit operations, prioritize resident needs, and direct team workflow.
  • Coach and support staff in clinical practice, documentation, communication, and person-centred care.
  • Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and person-centred care aligned with the Residents’ Bill of Rights.
  • Support residents and families through effective communication, including conflict resolution.
  • Oversee and reinforce best practices across key clinical programs (e.g., falls prevention, wound care, pain management, medication administration, infection control).
  • Ensure safe medication practices, proper documentation, and timely escalation of incidents or concerns.
  • Monitor resident well-being (nutrition, hydration, behaviours, skin integrity, etc.) and escalate changes appropriately.
  • Ensure compliance with IPAC standards, documentation requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and inspection readiness activities.
  • Supervise, coach, and support staff performance, including participation in recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Promote a safe work environment, including adherence to health & safety standards and emergency procedures.
  • Support effective use of resources, including staffing, supplies, and equipment.
