Associate Director of Athletic Communications
About The Position

This role involves coordinating all media interactions, managing game-day statistical and media activities, handling social media output with a focus on creative storytelling and graphics, and traveling as appropriate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary media contact for at least five varsity sports, including at least one ticketed sport.
- Coordinate all media interaction with the programs’ athletes and coaches.
- Manage game-day operations related to statistical and media activities for home events.
- Travel as appropriate for assigned sports.
- Manage elements of social media output for assigned sport teams, with a heavy focus on creative story-telling opportunities and graphics for team-related accounts for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, etc.
- Oversee all elements of Penn website, PennAthletics.com, related to teams (game previews/recaps, roster/schedule management, features for video).
- Collaborate with coaches and team ops directors on managing the social media accounts for assigned sports, including content calendars, gameday coverage, publishing stories/announcements, and supporting creative content needs.
- Oversee the work study and internship programs for the department.
- Assist with the onboarding and training of the three Assistant Athletic Communications staff members.
- Coordinate with marketing and graphic design to promote ticket events, ticket sales, and student outreach through website and social media for assigned sports.
- Coordinate media or website/social media coverage of Athletics-related development events, especially related to assigned sports.
- Ensure ESPN+ and their personnel are taken care of for broadcasts of assigned sports.
- Work with JMI to ensure the right ads are in the right places in publications and that sponsorship ties are being done.
- Coordinate with facilities/operations for game-day operations of assigned sports (game-day parking for media, credentialing, TV/radio needs).
- Travel on all road trips with football and/or women’s basketball, if assigned those sports.
- Travel for other sports when necessary (e.g., TV game, NCAA competition, or any event that might warrant on-site coverage and/or is expected to have a solid media presence).
- Handle media requests including setting up parking and credentials (primarily for assigned ticketed sports).
- Perform in-game stats.
- Coordinate post-game interviews between on-site media and Penn players/coaches and visiting players/coaches as necessary.
- Handle all statistics for assigned sports and properly archive and publish them (website, etc.).
- Keep up with record books.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
