About The Position

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications assists the Director of Athletic Communications as the primary point of contact for external communications for the Department of Athletics at McDaniel. This position helps manage the official website and social media channels, and acts as the primary creator and editor of video and graphic content.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree is required.
• One or more years of related experience required.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Strong writing and analysis skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Able to work well independently, energetically, and creatively under strict deadlines.
• Manage multiple tasks under pressure and be adaptable to rapidly changing priorities.
• Ability to maintain composure, effectiveness, and focus when facing difficult challenges.
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, and Production Truck preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads the creation and execution of multimedia content and athletic communications, serving as the primary producer of video, graphic, and social media content for assigned teams.
• Plans and manages live athletic broadcasts on the Centennial Conference Digital Network.
• Oversees broadcast operations and production equipment.
• Creates content for digital platforms and in-venue displays.
• Serves as a strategic communications contact.
• Supervises student workers.
• Writes game recaps, press releases, scripts, and feature stories.
• Manages game statistics and historical records.
• Uses NCAA Live Stats and PrestoSports for keeping in-game statistics.
• Staffs home events and supervises student workers.
• Maintains athlete, coach, and staff biographies and record books.
• May serve as a public address announcer, host, or emcee.
• Ensures timely completion of athletics content.
• Upholds institutional brand and editorial standards.
• Supports coaches and staff in maintaining brand consistency.
