The Associate Director of Advancement for Parent Philanthropy and Donor Experience Officer (DXO) is responsible for developing strategies and successfully securing gifts from non-alumni parents for the University. The goal is to raise between $1M and $1.5M from this pool of donors annually, and the Associate Director will lead this effort, often serving as the primary contact for securing these gifts. This role involves designing and executing a strategic plan that adheres to best practices in the profession. The Associate Director will manage a portfolio of qualified major gift prospects and a significant pool of high-end annual fund prospects. While other Major Gift Officers will also manage parent major gift prospects, the Associate Director will oversee their own portfolio and monitor the progress of other parent prospects to ensure annual goals are met. For qualified major gift prospects, the Associate Director will guide them through the Donor Engagement Process (DEP) with supervisor and colleague guidance. For unqualified potential major gift prospects, this Donor Experience Officer (DXO) will be part of a donor-centered team focused on achieving leadership annual giving goals ($1,000-$10,000). Utilizing various technological tools, the DXO will build personal relationships with assigned prospective donors, leading to new or increased support for the University. Through email, social media, Blackbaud, video conferencing, and phone, the DXO will steward donors, provide information to deepen their connection to the university, and solicit them for annual gifts. The DXO will report to the Director of Annual Fund Campaigns. Additionally, the Associate Director will oversee the Parent Leadership Council (PLC), a fundraising committee for parents who make annual gifts of $2,500 or more. The Associate Director will also organize annual events to identify and cultivate parent donors, including Freshman Parent Welcome Events, PLC Meetings, Regional Events, and others as deemed appropriate. Key metrics and goals include total commitments raised from parents annually, total dollars raised from their portfolio, and total personal contacts made. Success requires designing a comprehensive annual plan, communicating goals and tactics to colleagues, being a dynamic fundraiser, managing their portfolio effectively, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure support for the Parent Philanthropy Program. The Associate Director will be supported by an experienced team and fundraising support process designed to foster success in individual gift fundraising.
