About The Position

Volunteers of America Colorado is a nonprofit, faith-based organization providing more than 50 human service programs to vulnerable people across Colorado. The Associate Director, Mid-Level Giving is a full-time position in the Advancement Department, based in Denver. Reporting to the Senior Director of Major Gifts, this relationship-focused fundraiser manages a portfolio of more than 100 individual donors and prospects who give $1,000–$9,999 annually. The role builds donor relationships, identifies and qualifies prospects, conducts visits, solicits gifts, and provides thoughtful stewardship. It works to increase donor engagement and giving while identifying supporters who may be ready for major gift relationships, connecting donor interests with VOA Colorado’s mission and programs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
At least 4 years of experience in fundraising, development, sales, or relationship-based donor engagement.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to attend occasional evening or weekend events and donor meetings.
Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance for local donor and program visits.
Ability to travel locally in the Denver metro area and occasionally elsewhere in Colorado.
Commitment to VOA Colorado’s mission and willingness to learn about programs serving people experiencing homelessness, older adults, veterans, youth, and others in need.
Ability to maintain donor confidentiality.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of 100+ mid-level donors and prospects giving $1,000–$9,999 annually, developing personalized cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and giving-growth plans.
Build relationships through in-person meetings, phone calls, outreach, and tours of VOA Colorado programs.
Identify and qualify new donors, prepare donor-centered proposals, and connect supporters with program leaders, executive leadership, and Board members when appropriate.
Set and meet individual fundraising and donor engagement goals, maintain an active gift pipeline, and report progress monthly and quarterly.
Document donor contacts, opportunities, and moves management activity in Salesforce; identify donors with major gift potential and coordinate next steps with the major gifts team.
Create donor recognition, personalized communications, and stewardship opportunities to strengthen retention and long-term support.
Collaborate with Marketing and Program teams on donor stories, impact updates, proposals, and engagement materials.
Help re-engage lapsed supporters and grow relationships with current donors.
Use fundraising events and program visits to connect with donors, build relationships, and follow up on giving opportunities.
Support sponsorship outreach and donor engagement at VOA Colorado events as needed.
