About The Position

Cytokinetics is a specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company with over 25 years of experience in muscle biology. The Associate Director, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a scientific professional who serves as a key field-based scientific resource for healthcare providers, patients, investigators, and internal colleagues. This role has high visibility and involves critical cross-functional relationships across Medical Affairs, Clinical Development/Operations, and Commercial. The role focuses on key opinion leaders and other HCPs in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and heart failure therapeutic areas, while supporting pipeline products in development. Requirements

  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD/DO, MS, PA, ARNP) preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of CV MSL experience for Associate Director Medical Science Liaison is required.
  • CV experience in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and/or heart failure is preferable.
  • Must be analytical and articulate in both oral and written communications, possess excellent presentation skills, with a demonstrated ability to communicate well with external stakeholders and all internal levels of the organization.
  • Must understand Medical Science Liaison roles and responsibilities including compliance within the PhRMA Code Standards for Interactions with U.S. Healthcare Providers, Federal and State promotional laws and regulations, ACCME Standards, the Code of Business and Conduct and Ethics, and all other company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Comply with all credentialing requirements for any healthcare institution which is part of the Medical Science call plan, including, among other things, routine background checks, medical testing or proof of immunizations, training on facility policies, and adherence to confidentiality and/or HIPPA agreements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • A valid US Driver’s License is required and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel both domestically (~30%-50%) and internationally on occasion (TBD).

  • CV experience in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and/or heart failure is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Through development of a territory strategic plan, identify national, regional, and local Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) involved with the provision of cardiovascular care within institutional care centers and engage them in proactive and reactive scientific exchange.
  • Maintain and broaden professional relationships with HCPs (physicians, NPs, PAs, nurses, and pharmacists) in institutional care centers to expand research, advisory, and educational partnership opportunities; identify areas of unmet medical need; and assure thoughtful exchange of current medical information related to products in development and therapeutic areas of importance.
  • Contributes to planning and execution of Congress activities. This includes review of scientific programming of relevant conferences, attending sessions, supporting exhibit booth operations, and contributing to a timely written conference report summarizing key information, activities, and competitive intelligence to colleagues.
  • Serve as a scientific expert at key medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, internal meetings, and patient advocacy group meetings.
  • Maintain a high-level of scientific knowledge and understanding about disease state, underlying science, treatment guidelines, available treatment agents and options, as well as heart failure and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy therapies under development.
  • Maintain a superior understanding of current trends in clinical research, competitive developments, patient care, and their impact on Cytokinetics’ medical strategies.
  • Work with Medical Affairs and other internal colleagues on initiatives including medical information, publications, medical education, grants, speaker training, and other educational programs.
  • Provide support to our clinical development programs by serving as a key point of contact for company-sponsored trial investigators, investigator-initiated research, and registries consistent with company objectives and regulations.
  • Work compliantly and collaboratively with field account specialists in support of MYQORZO.
  • Timely and accurately respond to unsolicited requests for Medical Information.
  • Mentor and support Sr. Medical Science Liaison.
  • Provide strategic input and execute region-specific plans to achieve KOL engagement goals and Medical Affairs departmental goals.
  • Pursues projects independently with a high degree of quality and timely execution.
  • Maintains a complete awareness of and understanding about current “real world” clinical practices, HEOR drivers, and emerging trends in treatments/medicine.
  • Establish relationships with key executive leadership colleagues across Cytokinetics and connect external parties with appropriate leadership team members.

Benefits

  • In the U.S., the hiring pay range for fully qualified candidates is $212,400.00-$247,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
