About The Position

MBI is seeking an Associate Director, Marketing Systems to own and support the systems that power our print marketing operations, including customer selection, campaign execution, and tracking of marketing spend and performance. This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping a critical, highly used platform running smoothly. You’ll work closely with marketing teams to ensure data is accurate, outputs are reliable, and issues are resolved quickly. You’ll also help guide a small team supporting related systems and integrations. This role will partner with the current system lead during a transition period to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of how data flows through business systems
  • Working knowledge of SQL (ability to read and write queries)
  • Experience troubleshooting data-driven systems and getting to root causes
  • Comfort working in legacy or highly customized environments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics simply
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, reactive environment
  • High level of ownership, follow-through, and reliability
  • Calm, practical approach to problem-solving under pressure
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical team members

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operation of systems supporting marketing campaigns and advertising spend tracking
  • Provide direction and problem-solving support to a small team of programmers supporting related systems (e.g., NetSuite and integrations)
  • Respond to and resolve user questions, issues, and requests
  • Investigate data and system issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions
  • Distinguish between user misunderstanding, data issues, and system problems
  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical users
  • Enforce processes and timelines while remaining flexible when business needs require
  • Monitor key processes (mailings, data feeds, reporting outputs) to ensure reliability
  • Ensure data and outputs used for marketing and financial decisions are accurate and trustworthy
  • Maintain clear, business-friendly documentation of how systems work
  • Partner with internal teams and external resources when escalation is needed
  • Support evaluation of potential future system improvements or platform changes
