About The Position

The Associate Director of Game Analytics will be a key leader within our Insights Center - a multidisciplinary team that brings together Games User Research and Data Analytics under one roof. The Insights Center’s core mission is to test our games, gather meaningful feedback from players, and combine the complementary strengths of user research and data analytics to surface the underlying why behind player behaviour. Together, we deliver actionable insights to our game teams and studio stakeholders that shape how our games are built. We are growing our data and analytics capabilities and are looking for a visionary leader to further anchor the Game Analytics function within the Insights Center. This is a rare opportunity to shape how data informs game development across multiple titles, working hand-in-hand with researchers, designers, producers, and engineers. Reporting to the Insights Center Director, the Associate Director of Game Analytics will own our data vision, data and technology infrastructure, and the team of senior data analysts and engineers who power it. As part of the Insights Center your work is anchored in a shared mission: testing our games, understanding our players, and delivering insights that truly move the needle. Analytics in our studio is not a back-office function; it is embedded in development, partnering directly with game teams from early playtests through to live operations. This is a player-facing, game-first leadership role. You will turn player telemetry and behavioural data into clear and compelling stories that drive real decisions. Beyond insights delivery, your team also owns the development and maintenance of internal tooling that helps the broader Insights Center - both user researchers and analysts - work more effectively and efficiently. You are not just a technical leader. You are a communicator and evangelist who can translate complex data into language that resonates with game designers, producers, and executives alike - including stakeholders across international teams where English may not be the first language. You stay on top of AI trends in analytics, proactively experimenting with new tools and approaches to keep our team at the cutting edge. We are actively recruiting at the Director level for this role. That said, we are a team that values fit, potential and complementary experience - and we are open to discussing how the scope and title of this position aligns with the right candidate's background. If you are a strong senior individual contributor or manager with a clear trajectory toward a Director role and the vision to match, we encourage you to apply. Montreal-based candidates will be prioritised for this role, given the concentration of our analytics team and expectations of in-office days (current rate at 3 days per week, subject to change).

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data analytics, with a background in consumer products - video game industry experience strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years in a team leadership or management role; proven track record of building and developing high-performing analytics teams.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting AAA or live-service titles; this is a mandatory requirement for the role.
  • Deep expertise in game telemetry and behavioural analytics: session metrics, player journeys, funnel analysis, economy modelling, and retention curve analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or significantly shaping a data/analytics tech stack, including pipeline management, instrumentation, and BI tooling.
  • Experience with experimentation design and analysis (A/B testing, cohort analysis, statistical significance).
  • Proven ability to communicate data insights to non-technical stakeholders and influence decisions at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience working with international teams across multiple time zones, and with colleagues and stakeholders for whom English is not a first language.
  • Experience supporting multiple live or in-development titles simultaneously.
  • Excellent SQL skills and strong command of at least one programmatic data tool (Python, R, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with our core tech stack or equivalent tools: Snowflake, dbt, Sigma, and GitHub.
  • Solid knowledge of data visualisation and BI tools (Sigma, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar).
  • Proficiency in quantitative and statistical techniques: regression, classification, clustering, forecasting, and causal inference.
  • Awareness of - and ideally hands-on experience with - AI/ML applications in analytics (LLMs for insight generation, predictive modelling, anomaly detection, etc.).
  • Understanding of telemetry pipeline architecture and event-based analytics stacks.
  • Genuinely passionate about video games and the industry - you play games and care about player experience.
  • A natural communicator and storyteller who makes data accessible and exciting for any audience.
  • A people leader who invests in others’ growth, sets clear expectations, and builds team confidence.
  • Curious and forward-thinking about AI trends and emerging analytics methods; you read, experiment, and share what you learn.
  • Highly organised, process-oriented, and capable of managing competing priorities without losing quality.
  • Autonomous and proactive - you identify problems and opportunities before they’re handed to you.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for this role because the employee will be required to communicate regularly with colleagues and stakeholders located outside Quebec, where English is the primary language of communication between offices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Chinese game development teams or a Chinese game publisher context.
  • Bilingual in French and English, an asset for our Montreal studio environment.
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics, user acquisition data, and community feedback channels.
  • Background working in user research or alongside UX researchers.
  • Experience with economy modelling and in-game monetisation analytics (IAP, battle pass, cosmetics).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a senior team of data analysts and BI/data engineers; build a high-performance, collaborative team culture.
  • Define team structure, headcount needs, and individual growth paths; identify resourcing gaps and advocate for the team’s technical and human needs.
  • Set a high standard for analytical rigour, storytelling, and delivery across all team output.
  • Foster a psychologically safe, inclusive environment where experimentation and learning are encouraged.
  • Define and own the studio’s data strategy - from telemetry design and data governance to insight delivery and reporting.
  • Develop a clear, forward-looking vision for how AI and machine learning can enhance our analytics capabilities; stay up to date on emerging tools, trends, and industry best practices, and bring these to the team proactively.
  • Build and evolve a data-driven culture across the studio, championing analytics as a core part of the game development process.
  • Establish standardised metrics, definitions, and measurement frameworks across our portfolio of titles.
  • Own analytics for engagement, retention, progression, player experience, and monetisation across our titles, including local games in development as well as Blood Message and Ananta.
  • Translate player telemetry and behavioural data into actionable, clearly communicated recommendations for game design, live operations, and feature decisions.
  • Design, run, and interpret experiments (A/B and multivariate tests) to validate hypotheses and identify leading indicators of player satisfaction and retention.
  • Partner with design, production, and UX research teams to embed analytics thinking early in development cycles - not just after launch.
  • Drive cross-title knowledge sharing; identify repeatable analytics that can be centralised or automated.
  • Take ownership of our data and tech stack - including Snowflake, dbt, Sigma, and GitHub - and evolve it in line with the studio’s needs and industry standards.
  • Ensure high-quality, consistent telemetry instrumentation across titles; partner with engineering to maintain reliable, scalable data pipelines.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of internal tooling that supports the broader Insights Center - enabling both user researchers and analysts to track, visualise, and analyse data from playtests and player studies more efficiently.
  • Identify and implement automated reporting, tailored dashboards, and self-serve analytics capabilities across the studio.
  • Evaluate and introduce new data visualisation techniques, AI-powered tooling, and analytical frameworks as the landscape evolves.
  • Build trusted relationships with studio leadership, game directors, producers, marketing, and business teams - becoming the go-to voice for data across the organisation.
  • Communicate insights clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical audiences; adapt your language to your audience without losing rigour.
  • Support pre- and post-launch decision-making with data-grounded recommendations; help business and marketing teams answer their questions with confidence.
  • Represent the analytics function in cross-functional forums and contribute to studio-wide strategy discussions.
