About The Position

United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring an Associate Director, Development (Major Gifts/Fundraiser) to join their team. This role focuses on developing and building relationships within the community to address health and human service needs through United Way Miami. The Associate Director will develop and maintain various fundraising initiatives, including individual and corporate fundraising. The organization is dedicated to tackling complex issues and driving real change in the community, fighting for equitable access to quality education, financial security, and the health of everyone. This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days on-site and 2 days from home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years’ experience in fundraising or sales, presentation skills and account management.
  • Advanced Word and Excel.
  • CRM/database experience.
  • Competence with web browsers, Office Suite/365 (including PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Public speaking skills.
  • Understanding of people.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to understand and analyze industry trends.
  • Sales ability.
  • Computer skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an account portfolio of approximately 100-125 prospective and current donors at the $10,000 Tocqueville Society and higher, including goal setting.
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
  • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: initiating contacts with current and potential Tocqueville Society and major donors, developing cultivation strategies (including working with volunteers), moving potential donors toward solicitation and closures, making solicitations when appropriate, and maintaining stewardship contacts.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards, demonstrate an empathetic disposition and perseverance, reflect an optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to the needs of donors.
  • Ensure all Tocqueville Society gifts are accounted for during the fiscal year.
  • Participate in 15-20 donor meetings per month.
  • Work collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other development staff, and other United Way staff to achieve prospect needs.
  • Work with the Prospect Manager to identify new business and participate in prospect management activities to ensure coordination of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Attend United Way events as well as outside events for United Way representation and networking.
  • Responsible for soliciting gifts of $10,000 and higher from individuals.
  • Collaborate with Development Officers to identify major and planned gift prospects within giving communities and employee campaigns to create, cultivate, and solicit Tocqueville Society donors.
  • Implement reports strategically into the fundraising approach, utilize United Way’s customer relationship management tool (Andar), and maintain data quality and integrity.
  • Work closely with team members, including administrative, marketing, and engagement teams.
  • Identify prospects, engage them in the work of United Way, and secure appropriate revenues through cross-selling opportunities.
  • Serve as a pipeline for overall fundraising efforts.
